Known Issues

All Versions

Installation: On some Windows computers, the installation process will seem to 'disappear' and not have done anything. This is an unresolved issue with InstallShield. If this occurs, please wait; it will likely reappear and continue the installation process. The wait time can take up to 15 minutes. This applies to all versions of Windows.

Version 3.5.0

Issue 1

When using PM5s with Windows 8 (and potentially some versions of Windows 7), the PM5 may not stay connected through the USB cable.

Resolutions

  • Update the PM5 that you are using as the master to PM5 Firmware Version 15.005 or higher.
  • Use a PM4 as the master.

Issue 2

During race start sequences, false instances of false starts may occur with PM5s running firwmare version 15 and below.

Resolutions

  • Update the PM5s to PM5 Firmware Version 15.005 or higher.
  • Clear the false start and try starting the race again.
  • Wait until all flywheels are stopped before starting the race.

Version 3.2.21

Note: The following issues were found in Windows 7 and might also occur in earlier versions of Windows.

Issue 1

Plugging/unplugging USB devices that are not set up (numbered) properly may crash the Venue Race Application.

Resolution

Restart the Venue Race Application.

Issue 2

Invoking Task Manager (pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL) during a race crashes the Venue Race Application.

Resolution

Do not invoke Task Manager during a race.

Issue 3

Running the Venue Race Application on Vista or Windows 7 may create race files with several ".rac" extensions.

Resolution

If this issue occurs, it should not impair operation of the software, however, upgrading to the latest version will fix it.

Version 3.2.15

Issue 1

Loading a previously saved race may result in a warning that there are invalid characters in the name or filename.

Resolution

Click in the race name box to continue.

Issue 2

Running the Venue Race Application on Windows 7 may create race files with several ".rac" extensions.

Resolution

If this issue occurs, it should not impair operation of the software, however, upgrading to the latest version will fix it.

Issue 3

Team race files created with earlier versions of the Venue Race Application may not load properly, causing crashes and other issues.

Resolution

Upgrade to the latest version.

Versions 3.2.12 and Earlier

Issue 1

Using the Venue Race Application on Vista or Windows 7 may cause User Access Control (UAC) prompts every time you try to create or save a new race file.

Resolution

Take the following steps:

  1. Under Start > All Programs, click Control Panel.
  2. Click User Accounts and Family Safety.
  3. Click User Accounts.
  4. Click Turn User Account Control On or Off.
  5. Uncheck Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Restart the computer.

Issue 2

Using the Venue Race Application may result in a memory leak or performance issue with Windows XP and Vista. This is not a new problem but seems to be occurring more frequently with fully updated Windows XP systems. This issue results in "ROW" remaining on the PM screen throughout the race, or participant names not updating properly during a race.

Resolution

Exit the Venue Race Application every 5–10 races and restart it.

Version 3.2.8

Issue 1

Various issues related to false starts using PM’s with firmware version greater than 300.

Resolution

Upgrade to the latest version.

Prior Versions

Some regional versions of Windows XP (such as the Greek and Korean versions) that use Unicode in filenames cause a bug in the Venue Race Application. The first problem you will encounter is the Venue Race Application will not allow you to load or save races. There may be other operations that also may not work.
Concept2 recommends use of the English version of Windows XP Home or Windows XP Pro. If you must use a localized version you should modify the location of your data files:

  1. Make directories to store your data files, such as C:\VenueRace\, C:\VenueRace\results, C:\VenueRace\data, C:\VenueRace\data\LogData.
  2. Run the Venue Race Application.
  3. Cancel out of the wizard.
  4. Click Options.
  5. Change ALL of the file paths to something like C:\VenueRace\Race, etc.
  6. Close the Venue Race Application.
  7. Test the application by running a short race and verifying that you can save the .rac file and get results properly.
